The previous answer is completly wrong. Lavender blooms all season for one, and can be transplanted any time of the year. If anything, the plant will thank you for having the more room to root out. I would transplant whenever you feel the need.
Reply:I think it's best to re-pot after flowering in october time, however shouldn't do too much harm to re-pot now... as long as you don't damage the roots when moving it.
Reply:Fall is the ideal time to transfer, right before the bush goes dormant for the winter. With the bush going dormant, the roots can concentrate all their time on regenerating and reestablishing themselves without having to supply water and nutrients to green growing leaves.





If you MUST move now, wait until after the bloom, cut way back and make sure you get enough of the root ball to support what is actively growing as it will need to reestablish feeder roots. It will probably struggle as the ground will heat up and continue to heat up with summer fastly approaching.





If you can wait, then I would wait. Fall is truly ideal.
